Need more staff? Find out if you’re eligible for wage subsidies
Did you know that you may be able to apply for a wage subsidy to assist you in hiring more staff?
The Department of Education Skills and Employment is now offering:
Up to $10,000 (GST inclusive) is available for new employees who are:
- 15 to 24 years of age,
- Indigenous Australians, or
- 50 years of age and over.
Up to $6,500 (GST inclusive) is available for new employees who are:
- 25 to 29 years of age,
- parents, or
- registered with an employment services provider for 12 months or more.

Up to 50% of an eligible apprentice or trainee’s wage
Through the JobTrainer package, the government is providing support for businesses to keep their apprentices and trainees.
The Supporting Apprentices and Trainees subsidy applies to wages paid until 31 March 2021.
Your small business may be eligible if:
- you employ fewer than 20 people
- you are a small business with fewer than 20 people, using a Group Training Organisation
- the apprentice or trainee was undertaking an Australian Apprenticeship with you on 1 July 2020 for claims after this date.
